Killian Briefly

I’m an Irish person who fell into studying business. I didn't know what to study and business had a lot of progression options, so it was good for a don't know. Indeed, by writing macros for Excel I discovered programming. The peak of studying business was creating a Spreadsheet that automatically graded, admitted or rejected and assigned subjects to students.

My friends politely but blankly stared while I excitedly explained Excel, but this reinforced that I'd found my specific interest. From there transferred to computer programming, all at Roslyn College, and found similar but greater excitement with HTML, Javascript and CSS. I have side interests in cycling, videogames, drawing and writing but my days are somewhat consumed by programming but I'd like more drawing and the like.

I hope to study programming at a higher level at a good college, until I reach a level where I can't keep up. I'll likely do more education and work as a database manager or something with art as a hobby, and I'd be satisfied with that. However, the dream would be to marry my creative interests, qualifications and hobbies by working in the videogame industry.

It's a very general notion. It's just a basic idea of conceiving things with art and writing such as designs and stories, then realising them with software design. It's likely that barriers to entry, difficult work, low pay and volatility would outweigh my level of interest though, and that my level of creative output wouldn't sustain a career. In summary, I'll continue developing my skills then see what presents itself similarly to taking business.
